Welcome to Maccabee's
Far North Honey hives are nestled in remote bush areas throughout Mangonui, Doubtless Bay and Northland and are surrounded by manuka, kanuka, and other native species such as rewa rewa, rata, kamahi and towai.
It’s that lush environment that makes our honey so naturally sweet and rich with nutrients that support good health and are considered to have antibiotic and antiseptic properties.
Our Story: Crafted with Care, Rooted in Nature
We’re a small, family-run business with a deep love for bees and a passion for natural healing. Our journey begins with Nicky Maccabee, our head beekeeper, who brings over 25 years of hands-on experience and a deep understanding of the natural rhythms of hive life. For Nicky, bee health always comes first—and it shows in everything we do.
Working side by side is Delwyn Simpson, a former registered nurse and Nicky’s life partner. Together, we care for every part of the process—from tending the bees and harvesting raw ingredients to infusing, blending, and hand-packing every jar of honey and each pot of skin balm in small batches.
Every product is a reflection of our values—sustainability, integrity, and uncompromising food-grade quality. From hive to jar, we’re proud to create honey and skincare that’s as kind to your body as it is to the earth.
Active Kanuka and Manuka
Our high-grade, active kanuka and manuka honey is export grade quality and we can tell you the exact origin of each batch.
Our honey is fresh from the hive and is supplied direct to you at wholesale rates in either 7 or 15kg tubs. We also bulk supply to restaurants, distilleries, food manufacturers, natural skin care companies and exporters.
